Starting July 1, key regulatory changes will come into effect, impacting daily services such as digital payments, train travel, and identification documentation. The new measures aim to streamline systems, reduce misuse, and ensure faster redressal mechanisms.
Under the revised UPI framework, banks and financial institutions will now be empowered to directly process chargeback requests from customers. Previously, such resolutions required clearance from the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI), often leading to delays.
With the latest change, NPCI approval will no longer be mandatory. This is expected to expedite the refund process in instances of mistaken transfers or fraudulent activity, reducing customer inconvenience and facilitating faster financial redress.
Indian Railways is rolling out several adjustments to enhance transparency and curb misuse in the Tatkal ticketing system:
* Aadhaar Requirement: Beginning July 1, Aadhaar authentication will be compulsory for booking Tatkal tickets on the IRCTC platform.
* OTP-Based Validation From July 15, OTP confirmation will be needed for all Tatkal ticket purchases, both online and offline. This measure is designed to restrict unauthorized bookings and minimize bulk book.
* Agent Booking Delay: Authorized ticket agents will face a 30-minute restriction after the Tatkal booking window opens. AC class bookings will be restricted for agents from 10:00 AM to 10:30 AM, and non-AC from 11:00 AM to 11:30 AM. This period will be reserved for individual passengers, aiming to improve their booking success rate.
From July 1, 2025, individuals applying for a PAN card must mandatorily furnish their Aadhaar number. This requirement, issued by the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT), intends to eliminate duplicate PAN holdings and tighten compliance.
The Aadhaar number will be authenticated as part of the application process. Those without Aadhaar are advised to enroll promptly to avoid delays in obtaining a PAN card.
These regulatory adjustments carry implications for routine financial transactions and travel planning. Citizens are urged to update their documents and familiarize themselves with the revised procedures to avoid service disruption.
